Diabetes

This clinic offers an annual review by the practice nurse, doctor, dietician and podiatrist for patients with diabetes.

Minor surgery

We perform a number of minor surgical procedures on the premises. Your doctor will advise you of these.

Pregnancy and antenatal care

We operate a “shared care” system between the practice and local hospitals.

Contraceptive services

Contraceptive advice is available from the doctors. We do contraception implants and coils at the surgery. The practice nurse will offer routine checks to women using contraception. We also do sexual health screening.

Physiotherapist

We have a First Contact Physiotherapist here at Battlefield Surgery.
The physiotherapist is at the surgery on a Monday all day and on a Thursday afternoon.
You may get an appointment with our physio quicker than seeing a GP.
Remember they can refer you for further treatment and arrange medication should this be required.
Do you have a problem that affects your neck, back, bones, joints or muscles? Other than this issue if you feel well you would you be able to see a physiotherapist rather than the GP.

You can see the First Contact Physiotherapist if you meet the following criteria
• All soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains or sports injuries
• Arthritis
• Problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons or bones,
eg tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ankle sprains
• Spinal problems including lower back, mid-back and neck pain
• Spinal-related pain in arms or legs, including nerve symptoms, eg pins and needles or numbness

We would not suggest an appointment with our First Contact Physiotherapist if any of the following apply.
• Acutely unwell patients
• Children under 16
• Medical management of rheumatoid conditions
• Women’s health, antenatal and postnatal problems
• House-bound patients
• Medication reviews for non-MSK conditions
• Neurological and respiratory conditions
• Headaches
• Acute mental health crises
• Patients who do not want to see a FCP

Cervical Smears

The practice offers a routine cervical smear service carried out by nursing staff. Please speak to a receptionist for details.
