Patient confidentiality and data protection
We respect your right to privacy and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is important that the NHS keeps accurate and up-to-date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best possible advice and care. Here is a list of the ways we may use information in your medical records. If you object to any of these uses, or wish to see your records, please speak to our practice manager, Jill Gibson
• Routine record keeping, consultation of records etc, when we provide care and treatment;
• Processing of records in the event of a medical emergency;
• Medical information passed on when you are referred to a specialist;
• The monitoring of our practice’s clinical performance against existing standards and benchmarks to ensure quality of care.
• Processing of information for administrative purposes, such as information passed to the health board in order to receive payment for treatment provided;
• Information used to improve the efficiency of the NHS as an organisation, for example to support decisions about the allocation of resources;
• Disclosures to disease registries and for epidemiological research.
